A kind gesture: Indian government supplies HCQ to other countries.
India, the largest producer of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), initially banned exports of the drug on March 25 to ensure adequate domestic supplies. But due to the coronavirus epidemic 30 countries including U.S, U.K, Brazil and south asian countries have asked to India to supply them with HCQ. Later on Indonesia, Australia and Germany have reached out to indian manufacturers of the drug. Due to this India partially lifts ban on export of the paracetamol and HCQ. HCQ is generally prescribed as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and malaria. However, health officials around the world emphasize that there is no evidence that any drug including HCQ, can cure or prevent a COVID-19 infection. But that didn't stopped countries around the world asking India for shipments. So due to global demand India partially remove the ban and supplies the drugs to the countries.
